In-between-ness​

performance with Artur Majewski (2021-)
 

The project with Artur Majewski (cornet & live electronics) and Reiko Yamada (laptop sonification & analog synthesizers) experiments with analog instruments embedded in a spatialized digital environment, treating space itself as a compositional parameter. Through real-time sound transformation and diffusion, the performance explores liminal zones—those fragile edges where sound, perception, and meaning begin to blur.

In-between-ness unfolds across shifting thresholds:
between audibility and inaudibility, delay and reverb, peak and distortion, noise and non-noise; between the acoustic “sweet spot” and elsewhere; between natural resonance and artificial space; between performers and listeners, process and result, the passing now and the lingering past.

Rather than aiming for fixed forms, the project embraces instability and transition, inviting the audience into a shared field of listening where attention drifts, borders dissolve, and sound is experienced as a continuously emerging state.
