CRESTALLUNA
for percussion ensemble (2026)
performance duration: ca. 9'
CRESTALLUNA is a work for six percussionists built around the idea of forty-one distinct swells, each shaped by its own rhythmic identity and timbral color. The instrumentation combines 12 timpani, 3 bass drums, tenor drum, 2 tam-tams, and metallic instruments such as triangle, Rin bowls, and crotales.
The piece unfolds through layered roles within the ensemble: bass drums generate large swells, timpani animate their internal textures and movements, and metallic instruments add points of brightness and resonance at the crest of the waves, from which the title is drawn.
