Reiko Yamada is a composer and sound artist, originally from Hiroshima, Japan. She composes concert works, creates sound art installations, and works with interdisciplinary collaborators. Her work explores the aesthetic concept of imperfection in a variety of contexts.
Yamada holds a D.Mus in composition from McGill University and is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards and fellowships. She was a 2015-16 Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study of Harvard University, the 2016-17 artist-in-residence at IEM (Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik), the 2018 Innovator-in-Residence at Colorado College, 2020-21 S+T+ARTS resident artist, and composer-in-residency at Phonos Foundation. Her various projects have been commissioned and/or funded by New Music USA, the Canada Council for the Arts, IRCAM (the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music), CIRMMT (the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology), the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Armitage Gone! Dance, the Zentrum für Orgelforschung der Kunstuniversität Graz, and the European Commission among others. Her works have been presented in venues such as The Metropolitan Museum Breuer (New York), and Sónar Festival (Barcelona). She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at ICFO (Institute for Photonic Sciences) and a visiting professor at ESMUC in Barcelona.

山田麗子(作曲家、サウンドアーティスト) : 1978年広島県生まれ。マギル大学大学院作曲科博士号終了(カナダ)、ボストン大学大学院作曲科修士号終了 (アメリカ)、バークリー音楽院ジャズ作曲科卒業(アメリカ)。 高校卒業後に渡米し、以来北アメリカとヨーロッパを中心に活動する。主に作品は Imperfection (不完全の美) を追求した芸術研究に基づくものが多く、作品形態は、オーケストラ、室内楽、電子音楽、インスタレーショ ン、異分野間コラボレーションなど幅広い。2015-16年ハーバード大学ラッドクリフ研究所フェロー (アメリ カ) 、2016-17年グラーツ国立音楽大学電子音楽・音響研究所 (IEM) アーティスト・イン・レジデンス (オーストリア)、 2018年コロラド大学イノベーター・イン・レジデンス (アメリカ)。 ダームシュタッド現代音楽祭クラ二シュタインシュタイペンド賞 (‘16年ドイツ)、ケベック芸術評議会 ・バンフセンター・スタジオプログラムアーティスト( ‘15 年カナダ )、Concerts of Technology District of Buenos Aires (conDiT/cheLA) アーティスト・イン・レジデンス ( ‘14年アルゼンチン )、 Le CouveNtアーティスト・イン・レジデンス ( ‘14年フランス )、S+T+ARTS レジデンシー ( ‘20年バルセロナ )など受賞その他多数。 作品は、メトロポリタン美術館 The Met Breuer（ニューヨーク）やソナーフェスティバル Sónar Festival（スペイン）など様々な場所で発表されている。現在はバルセロナの ICFO (フォトニクス科学研究所）の博士研究員、フォノス財団コンポーザー・イン・レジデンス として音楽と量子力学に関するプロジェクトに取り組んでいる。
Originaria de Hiroshima, compone conciertos, crea instalaciones de arte sonoro y trabaja con colaboradoras y colaboradores interdisciplinarios. Su obra explora el concepto estético de la imperfección en diversos contextos. Es doctora en composición por la Universidad McGill, y ha sido becaria del Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study de la Universidad de Harvard, artista residente en el Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik, innovadora residente en el Colorado College, y artista residente de S+T+ARTS, entre otros.
Sus proyectos han sido financiados por New Music USA, el Canada Council for the Arts, el IRCAM, el CIRMMT, el Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec y la Comisión Europea, entre otros, y presentados en lugares como el Metropolitan Museum Breuer de Nueva York y el Sónar Festival de Barcelona.
